Types of Boots
| |
There
are many different styles of women’s boots. The most commonly thought of style, when one
thinks of women’s boots, are knee-high, high-heeled types.
This style of boot is the perfect option for
dressing up in cold winter months. The shoe itself covers the entire foot, and the knee-high part
covers up the lower legs, keeping them warm.
While walking in icy and snowy conditions can be
tricky when wearing high-heeled boots, fortunately there are many styles of knee-high boots that
have either lower, more manageable heels, or high-heels that feature shoe beds with traction to
help grip the slippery surfaces.

Similarly to high-heeled, knee-high boots are heeled ankle boots. Often called
“booties,” these styles cover the whole foot, like any other type of boot, but they stop right at the
ankle.
This style of boot is often worn with tights or leggings and
dresses or skirts. Booties are a great little cross between traditional pumps and the warmth and seasonality of
conventional high-heeled boots.
Another type of women’s boots is the snow and rain boot. Also
frequently used in cold and wintry months, snow and rain boots protect the wearer’s feet and pants from getting
cold and wet. There are two options when it comes to rain and snow boots.
Some women prefer styles that can be pulled on over their existing
shoes and then easily removed when their destinations have been reached. Other women prefer styles that act as
shoes themselves. The downside to latter style is that one has to carry another pair of shoes with her in which to
change into when arriving at the office or other location.
Boots of all types, including suede boots, can be found at any women’s
clothing store that carries shoes, as well as in all department stores. For example, Macy’s, Lord &
Taylor, and Nordstrom all have extensive shoe departments with styles that include high-heeled boots and rain
and snow boots. Individual women’s stores also often carry their own lines of shoes, such as Banana Republic,
Ann Taylor, and J.Crew.
Because they are typically worn more during winter months, it can
be a bit more difficult to locate a pair of boots during the spring and summer months as they are not as seasonally
appropriate as other shoes, like pumps.
However, if you need boots and are having trouble finding them in
stores, you can always look online, especially at stores like Zappos.com and Endless.com. These stores carry
thousands of shoe options and generally offer free shipping.
